A Heroes' History of Prehistoric Britain
This book tells the amazing story of human life in Britain before history was recorded in writing. It starts with the first modern man, who used his sharpened flint stones to do everything from killing animals and other people to felling trees and constructing boats.
We learn about his fascination with the movement of the sun and the discovery of metal-making. Then we encounter the tribes and tribal groups that emerged under the leadership of chieftains who became powerful and wealthy through trade and war.
The last part deals with the arrival of the mighty Roman legions which ushered in the Romanisation of southern and central Britain, adding to the variety, character and colour of the growing nation of Britain.
